Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has hit out at
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho for comments he made after the Super Cup
on Friday night. Rummenigge has slammed the Chelsea coach regarding his
views on the sending off of Ramires which has left Mario Gotze in
plaster.
Mourhino was critical of the referee for what he saw as killing the game with the sending off of the Brazilian midfielder. Gotze is currently in a cast after he sustained damage to his right ankle because of the challenge from Ramires and is likely to be out for up to three weeks. Speaking to Bild Rummenigge branded Mourinho’s comments as outrageous and has said that Gotze is lucky he didn’t sustain more damage to his leg from the challenge. Rummenigge said on Mourhino’s comments:
"Mourinho's statement, I found outrageous. It could have turned out much worse.”
The Telegraph reported on comments made by Mourinho after the game when he stated that the referee didn’t show any consistency all night. He believes there were challenges from Bayern Munich players which warranted a yellow but a card wasn’t issued by the referee. In terms of the challenge from Ramires he thinks an official from England wouldn’t have given the second yellow. He said an English referee would tell the player that nobody got hurt and then warn them not to do it again.
“There were many other yellow cards that the referee didn’t give. There was a situation with Dante in front of me, with his first yellow card, and it was not given. With English referees, with people who love the game, communicate with the players, tells Ramires: 'Look, you’ve not hurt anyone, but you mustn’t do that again,” said Mourinho after the game.
Mourinho was also critical of the Bayern players and said they didn't play fair all night. He accused them of diving and trying to provoke his team.
