Juan Mata’s father and agent, Juan Snr, has been spotted in the
director’s box for tonight’s match between Arsenal and Fenerbahce.
The Spain international appears to be out-of-favour at Chelsea under Jose Mourinho and has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.
He was first touted as a potential makeweight in the proposed deal to take Wayne Rooney to the Blues from Manchester United.
But the news that his agent is mingling with the Arsenal board will send the rumour mill into overdrive.
French journalist Julien Laurens broke the news on Twitter before later deleting his tweet. By that stage other news outlets, including BBC Radio 5 Live, were also reporting that Mata Snr had been seen in the director’s box before kick-off.
